Took a vacation in late April to the California wine country - Sonoma and Napa. The weather was near-perfect; 75 and sunny every day. Stayed at the Doubletree in Rohnert Park - not in wine country per se, but close enough to everything that the location was fine. For the full review, click here.

10/14/06 Update: remembered a couple of place names that I had forgotten... The Italian Restaurant in Santa Rosa was LaVera Pizza, and the winery in Sonoma was Bartholomew Park.

Stayed in Dallas in late April at the Embassy Suites Market Center. A couple of uneventful days in Dallas, but as before this hotel is in a decent location if you are working in downtown or North Dallas. But caveat drivor - to get to Tollway North - go up to Mockingbird and over. Otherwise you have to go through downtown and circle back onto 35N. Not a pleasant situation.

Also went back to Dallas a couple of weeks later and flew American into Love Field. Not too bad - it's an Eagle flight, but short enough, and the Concourse for American is very un-crowded. It's not too far a walk into the main terminal either. Could fly into Love Field and out of DFW and it was a cheaper ticket (not always the case but it can end up that way).
